Just received this update from Peter Birch on the A4DE who reports that the Kiwis may have finished third.
Bill,
I have been away all weekend and only been able to catch up with the guys
by mobile.
I have not got the final results. All finished, several Gold medals. There is
a possibility of a third place for the team, but not yet confirmed.
Big news was that the event leader, Brad Williscroft, developed a sick bike
on Wednesday and got \"lost\". 40 mins later he re - appeared and the bike was
fine! He tried to claim back his lost time but the organisers said get
..........!
Leader Wednesday evening was Glen Kearney.
The NZ guys have found it difficult to come to terms with the conditions -
thick dust, 18inch deep ruts full of bulldust on the tests, very dry hard
ground.
Sean Clarke lost a fair bit of time having to change a cylinder head on his
Suzuki, but I think the others all stayed on time.
Cheers for now,
Peter
