The Chateau is accessible from State Highway 47 which runs between national Park and Turangi. Accommodation can be located on the AA Travel website under Ruapehu / Taupo. There are motels at National Park, Ohakune and the Skotel on Mt Ruapehu Motels also available in Stratford and New Plymouth.

Classes: - This ride is open to anyone who enjoys touring.
- Two wheelers of all sizes and trikes welcome.
Terrain: Sealed main highway from "The Chateau" to Taumaranui where the route takes State Highway 43 "The Forgotten Highway" to Stratford and then onto the "Plateau" on Mt Taranaki. There is a 10km section of unsealed but smooth surface in the Tangarakau Gorge. Local riders find this section a breeze. The road from Taumaranui to Stratford provides opportunity to perfect cornering techniques, has a number of saddles and is very scenic affording magnificent views of both mountains and the rugged farmland and native bush. There are a number of Heritage sites along the 234 km route.

This petrol is by special arrangement as there is no regular petrol outlet in this vicinity. Sales are on a cash basis only. The Whangamomona Hotel will also be open for other refreshments.
