What the riders are saying
Championship leader Colin Edwards. “I like the circuit and I see no reason why I can’t take the two wins on Sunday. After a dismal time at Misano I’m just pleased to still have such a big lead in the series but it really is time I got down to work and won a couple of races.”
Suzuki\'s Frankie Chili intends do battle this weekend, coming back from a broken collarbone suffered in his race two crash at Misano. The Italian has had surgery to screw and plate the bone. “For me, Misano was very bad. My crash in Superpole started my bad luck and it then just got worse. Of course, I know it will be hard for me at Valencia, but I will try my best to race. I will see what the doctors say on Thursday at the track and then try on Friday morning practice.”
Aaron Slight wants to improve upon last weekend’s results. Slight missed the Valencia tests early in the year while he recovered from brain surgery, but is looking forward to riding the new track. “From what I’ve heard about Valencia I think it’s a circuit I’ll really like. Misano last Sunday was a disappointment for the whole team so it’ll be nice to put the smiles on a few faces with some good results in Spain on Sunday.”
Katusuki Fujiwara. “I was so very happy at Misano. Finally, I got the results that I felt I was capable of. The changes we made to my Suzuki worked well and we will carry on with this kind of bike set-up. The bike is so much more easy to ride and I can now push it much harder then before. At Valencia, I will be looking for two more good finishes.”
Other riders this weekend who stand a good chance, Troy Bayliss, is in top form . Juan Borja, who is getting used to the Ducati, and is on his home track.. Ben Bostrom, will be trying hard to down Borja on his home track as he continues to make the point he is as good as or better than Borja who took his factory ride earlier in the year. Bostrom\'s bike is sponsored by the Valencia track. Haga looks a good bet as well on a track that should suit his Yamaha. Akira Yanagawa will again be joined by Peter Goddard on the 2nd Kawasaki.
All in all good racing is assured.
