4-Stroke Nats This Weekend

THE NEW ZEALAND 4 STROKE MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP THIS WEEKEND.

Sponsored by Otorohonda, King Country Honda, Honda First Taumaranui and The Rock 93FM the event is hosted by North King Country Motorcycle Club.

The Otorohanga course is set on natural terrain, with a few jumps and a large pit paddock area.

Entries are still open and there is currently 140 acceptances. Darryll King (Yamaha), who is current National 500 and 250 two stroke Champion, has entered having made the podium at the opening round of the Australian MX Nationals at Broadford in Victoria last weekend with a very creditable 3rd. Darryll is also entered in the Vets 35-39yrs Class.

Damien King (Yamaha) who is the National 125 Champion is also entered as is Jesse Wiki (Kawasaki) who will be a front runner.

Women's World Champion Katherine Prumm (Kawasaki) is entered in the Women's Class as well as the 250cc class where she compete with the men.

Vet's Class has attracted Tony Cooksley (Yamaha) who was AMA World Vet Champ in 1996 and 1998. Last year he was 8th at the FIM World Vets and is going back to Namur (Belgium) this year to attempt to win the 51+ Class to be held on 05 August. This year there is a second round and that will be in the UK three weeks later on 26 August at Donnington Park.

Junior 14-16years 250cc has attracted some 'classy' entrants.

Format for Saturday is 7.00am to 8.00am sign on. 8.15am is rider's briefing. 3 rounds of racing starts straight after practice.

Sunday format is sign on 7.45am to 8.15am. Rider's briefing at 8.30am. Practice is 9.00am and racing starts for 2 rounds followed by a Champion of Champion race for Seniors only.

Prizes money is also being paid. For 1st Place a trophy and prize money for the top five placings.
