Quite a few of the 280 riders who took part said that it was the best trail ride they had ridden in many a year after completing both laps of the Suzuki Trail Blazer ride held near Taupo on May 14.
Why so good I asked? The grins from ear to ear told half the story and the riders told me the rest... not too long, not too short, not too fast, not too slow, not steep, but still with some hills, great soil type and traction and flowing trails – yep in fact just bang on the mark!
I was wrapped to have everyone so happy with the Trail Blazer ride. After the very successful Blazers held in 2005, we worked on the tracks over summer. The improvements included new hills and trail sections plus brand new kids and novice tracks which I knew would increase the fun factor.
The relocated grass base worked well with plenty of easy parking and a good flow onto the tracks.
The kids were fizzing with the event because they could choose between the awesome kids grass, kids bush, novice forest and 12km tracks.
The quad riders were happy too, I had a yarn to a few of the boys on 4 wheels and they said they were having a ball and not to change a thing.
The 2nd ride in the series takes place Sunday 11 June.
The tracks have been completely graded but we have kept all the good berms, jumps, hills and trails.
So come along and get amongst it.
