[from the much-chewed pencil of Paul Whibley]

Hi guys

Been a while since I sent an update. A lot has happened over the last couple of weeks, good and bad. As I'm flat out packing for the six day (got to catch the boat this arvo) this will be a quick rundown. Spent a couple of weeks working in a bike shop as a mechanic, mostly assembling new yamahas and suzuki's, also fixing the odd bike.

Rode the dawn to dusk 12 hour last weekend with Andy Cripps, one of my Gas Gas Uk team mates. After a poor start I pushed my way to the lead early on lap one. I built a solid lead over my first two laps (34 minutes a lap) and Crippsy took over and maintained our lead. Over the day we built up a 20 minute+ lead.

The following week I was employed by the Fast Eddy organisation to help build the track for round 4 at Ellesmere. We extended and rebuilt some of the track, to about a 12 minute lap. The race itself was eventful. I led part of the first lap before I crashed. Ryan Voase led for a bit then he crashed. Paul Edmondson took over and led for most of the race. I took the lead again briefly when he pitted for fuel. In the end Eddy won by about a minute. I was second about four minutes ahead of Jason Thomas in third.

I guess the big news was that I won't be doing anymore WEC rounds this year. This was a decision made totally by the Gas Gas factory. Im not very happy with there decision. I will leave it at that.

I will forefill my contract with Gas Gas Uk as I'm very happy with the support I have received from them and the effort they have put into getting me to the top, is the best.

Some bad news from the Finland WEC was the crash involving Anders Erickson and Mika Saarenkoski. Both sustained serious injuries and have had many operations to repair the damage. We wish these two top guys all the best and a speedy recovery.

Bye for now
Paul and Katherine
