Hurley and Burkhart are the 2005 NZ SX Champions:

Daryl Hurley and Luke Burkhart collected the first New Zealand motorcycle titles for 2005 in front of a packed house under lights on Saturday night in Tokoroa.
The event, hosted by the South Waikato Motorcycle Club, was the final round of the National Supercross and a crowd of 6,000 was enthralled with the nights racing.

The Senior 125 Championship was book-ended by Josh Coppins who won the first round before leaving for Europe, and Cameron Taylor (Australia) who entered the fray last night. For Taylor it was a case of "he came, he saw and he conquered". The current Australian 125 Supercross Champion had no difficulty in winning all three races.

However, the title went to the very consistent Luke Burkhart who notched up 184 championship points over the three rounds, ahead of Scott Columb and Jonathan Burkhart - brother of the winner.

Darryl Hurley returned to his New Zealand base four months ago after a successful three year stint in America. Since then, the New Zealand MXoN representative, has won two national titles - he won the National 125 Motocross Title at the end of October. At 28 years of age, he has laid down a challenge to the King brother dynasty which will be a feature of the NZ Motocross GP in two weeks time.

Hurley won all nine races to take the 250 Supercross Title with maximum points from Peter Broxholme and Damien King, the only member of the famous family to contest the series.

Two junior riders appear to have benefited from a Motorcycling NZ exchange with the Asian Federation. Both Mason Wilkie and Hamish Dobbyn have visited Macau to ride in the Asian Junior Champs and both won titles last night.
