Road racers from around the country converge on Teretonga, near Invercargill, this weekend for another action-packed weekend of high-speed handlebar to handlebar racing.
After some misfortune at Ruapuna, Castrol Honda Red Riders Superbike racer Jared Love is ready to step up a level for the second round of the 2005 Motorcycle Trader & News NZ Road Race championship. The Hamilton rider posted an eighth, a sixth and a credible second placing in the NZ Grand Prix at Ruapuna last weekend, in less than ideal conditions. He held second place during a wet race when his anti-fog visor fell off, effectively leaving him blind for several laps. Love pushed on to finish an amazing sixth in that race.
Love, 28, is in a confident mood on his high-horsepower Castrol Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade. “I feel great and I’m coming to grips with the new bike. It’s nice the first round is over but it’s still too hard to pick - any of the top ten riders can still win,” Love said after arriving in Invercargill on Wednesday. Teretonga also happens to be his favourite track in New Zealand, “I love the track. It’s fast and flowing, and I think it will suit the Castrol Honda. I held the lap record for three to four years on my 600cc Sports Production bike. In my first year at the track on a Superbike, I was only 0.04s off breaking the lap record!”
With only four rounds remaining in the title chase, totalling 12 races, every race is important and top results only go to the fastest riders.

March 19-20, John Britten Memorial, Ruapuna, Christchurch. (Superbike and 600 Sports Production classes only)
