A weekend for NZ motorcyclists

Posted: Mon 19 Apr 1999

What a weekend to have the MNZ conference! Everyone was racing, from the first round of the Suzuki Winter Series to the first World 500cc GP for 1999.
The Malaysian GP was a real eye-opener with Kenny Roberts Jnr streaking away for the win, five times world champion Michael Doohan finishing fourth, and New Zealands Simon Crafer languishing back in 14th place.
The second round of the World Superbike Championship was a lot more exciting for NZ, with Aaron Slight enjoying a thrilling battle for third place in both races, narrowly missng to team mate Colin Edwards both times. Shayne & Darryl King and Josh Coppins were also racing in the weekend - we will let you know how they got on.
