Townley still leads Dutch Championship.

Ben Townley posted the fastest qualifying time at the former GP circuit of Rhenen, almost two seconds faster than his closest rivals.

The first race of the day would not turn out as good for the KTM Champ rider as BT quickly took control of the race only to experience some technical hitches which sidelined the youngster, delivering him no points.

Townley made amends in race two and immediately worked his way into lead by the first lap. The New Zealander built up a steady lead and was unchallenged utill the chequered flag was waved.
Riders and mechanics rushed to prepare themselves for the “Super final” event. Townley looked determined to challenge the bigger bikes for a win and within the opening stages of the race, he and fellow team-mate Rattray, had closed down Breugelmans and Dugmore and looked set to pass the two Open class riders. Unfortunately Townley did not reappear out of the forest section.

“It was quite dangerous out there,” explained Townley. “I was chasing Tyla and with the dust I could see nothing in front of me. I must have hit an unexpected bump or something and it just spat me over the bars. I’m looking forward to a few days of rest before I head off to the Isle of White to defend my world championship lead!” said the teenager.

Dutch championship point standings:
1. Townley Ben, NZ, KTM Champ, 142
2. van Hastenberg Jan, NL, KTM, 110
3. Goncalves Rui, POR, Yamaha, 106
4. Brons Pascal, NL, KTM, 100
5. Dennis Verbruggen, BEL, Yamaha,98
