Shayne King Racing - Press Release:

Mr Motocross Series, Geelong, Victoria, Australia.
15 & 16th May, 2004.

The opening round of Australia’s Mr Motocross series saw Shayne King repeating his stellar performance from last season with a clean sweep of the Pro Open class this past weekend.

The 33 year old New Zealander dominated the class on board his Honda CRF450R. King’s strict training regime back home in New Plymouth paid dividends on the rough track which took its toll on some of the lesser prepared riders. The only rider that looked capable of challenging the on-form Honda rider was elder brother Darryll on the Subway Yamaha YZF450, who eventually finished eight points behind Shayne in second place, with a second and a third place in the days two open class races.

The Mr Motocross series runs for eight rounds and replaces last years Thumper Nationals & Motocross series, with a formula that combines two and four stroke bikes into two classes - the Pro Open for 250cc two strokes and 450cc four strokes along with the Pro Lite class catering to 125cc two stroke and 250cc four stroke machines.

In what must have been a discouraging weekend for the Australian riders, Shayne’s Honda New Zealand team mate Cody Cooper won both Pro Lite races on the day to also take the overall class win aboard his CRF250R.

Shayne remains in Melbourne this week in preparation for this coming weekend’s second round held at Horsham, also in Victoria.
