Coppins closing in on top three after gruelling GP in Lichtenvoorde.

Kiwi moto-cross racer, Josh Coppins, has raced to two consistent finishes on the gruelling sand circuit of Lichtenvoorde in the Netherlands.

After a reasonable start in race one, Coppins passed the time keepers in ninth postion on the first lap. He reeled in and made his move on fast starters Breugelmans and Burnham but could not seem to make any ground on the leading pack of six riders. Coppins fought for ground but it was to no avail as the CAS Honda crossed the finished in seventh.

“Not good!” said a disappointed Kiwi. “I was using too much energy to go slow! It just didn’t seem to flow and I couldn’t get back up to the leading group no matter how hard I tried.”

Coppins was determined to make amends in race two and worked through the field to sixth position within the first ten minutes. A small get off relegated the “Lizzard” back a few positions which just fuelled his will to fight back. Coppins raced back to fifth position, just behind Frenchman, Michael Pichon finishing with some valuable championship points.

“It’s been a tough day for me. I suppose the positive side is that I am closing in on third position in the championship. I’m looking forward to Isle of White in two weeks time. It’s sort of a “home” GP for the CAS Honda Team and I have a lot of fans in England who will be cheering me on” said Coppins.
