Geelong based Motocross team CDR/Boost Mobile/Yamaha will commence the defense of their dual 2003 titles at the opening round of the 2004 Mr Motocross Outdoor Series at Geelong’s Barrabool circuit on Sunday May 16.

The Barrabool circuit is the home test track for the Geelong based Craig Dack racing team, which consists of defending Champions Darryll King and Troy Carroll as well as Cameron Taylor and nineteen year old Daniel McCoy.

Pro Open Champion, Darryll King has set himself the remarkable challenge of winning both the Pro Open and Pro Lites Mr Motocross Outdoor Championships, a feat which has never been attempted by a rider competing in the Australian series before.

New Zealand born King will contest the Pro Open Championship on a Yamaha YZ450 and the Pro Lites Championship on a Yamaha YZ250F.

King is currently in the best form of his career recently sweeping the New Zealand four stroke Motocross Championships winning all three titles.

King rode three different Yamaha YZF machines in the 250cc, 450cc and Open classes to win an astonishing 13 from 15 races.
\"I am really excited about the Australian season,” said King. “I feel great and my recent results show I am on track heading into the Australian Mr Motocross Outdoor Championships. “I would love to take out both championships I have been working really hard on my fitness, changing my training a bit to reflect the extra races I will take on in this series. “Hopefully I can keep up the good starts and stay strong throughout the series,” King said.

Reigning Pro Lites Champion Troy Carroll steps up in class to the Pro Open championship where he will come up against team-mate Darryll King for the first time.

Carroll who has dominated the Pro Lites class for the past three years will take on the Pro Open field on a Yamaha YZ250 two stroke bike while his team-mate and most of the other challengers will opt for the four stroke variety.
“It is going to be difficult but the recent testing and riding I have been doing show I will be a strong contender and I will definitely get the rest of the field in the corners on the YZ250,” Carroll said. “Both Darryll and I won our respective championships last year this year will be a real challenge for me going head-to-head against Darryll and on different bikes. “I am now back to peak fitness following my Supercross accident and I feel fantastic, I couldn’t have asked for a better preparation for this series,” Carroll concluded.

Cameron Taylor and Daniel McCoy will also come up against team-mate King with both riders contesting the Pro Lites Championship.

Team owner Craig Dack, is hoping the home ground advantage will see his team start the season on a winning note.

“It is great to be starting the season at our home test tack,” said Dack. “A good result here will give the riders a confident edge going forward. “The Barrabool track is probably the best circuit in the series it has everything you want in a motocross track and the club puts a lot of effort into maintaining it. “There will be a fair bit of pressure on the riders especially Darryll King and Troy Carroll as they are last year’s champions. “Our off season testing has shown they are extremely fit all on the pace so I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see all four riders up their vying for the championship,” Dack said.

The opening round of the Mr Motocross Outdoor Series is on Sunday May 16 at Geelong’s Barrabool circuit.
