MNZ - Press Release:

MNZ HAS A NEW PRESIDENT:

David Appleton has been elected Motorcycling New Zealand’s President for a three year term. He defeated Errol Conaghan (Palmerston North) in the ballot at yesterdays AGM.

Mr. Appleton, from Cambridge, was CEO of Motorcycling New Zealand for two years, resigning in March 2002. He was responsible for revamping the constitution of the 88 year old body that administers all forms of motorcycle sport.

Earlier, Errol Conaghan\'s service was recognized in a tribute and presentation made by entrepreneur and motorcycle enthusiast, Dick Hubbard. Conaghan has lead MNZ for 10 years, a time of major change for the national body.

Mr. Vince Sharpe (Auckland) was elected unopposed as the On Road Board Member and Neil Boyd (Whangarei) will continue for another year as the Off Road Board Member.

The outgoing Board handed over a healthy situation. MNZ recorded a surplus for the second successive year.
