New Model Due Out Early’

The \'03 Suzuki Desert Storm model was a huge success. Full of features like 2 huge 60 km trails, kids coaching and a scooter race - it sold well to over 1500 individual riders with 1150 riders buying the Saturday version.

Never before has such an off road model sold so well in New Zealand. Looking back to sales figures since the reinvention of Suzuki Desert Storm we see the following stats: Year 2000 Millennium year, average of 450 riders per day, 2001 average of 600 riders, 2002 enjoyed by 750 riders and 2003 average of 1000 riders.

The \'04 model looks to be a winner too and will be released earlier this year 17-18 April 2004 by event manufacturer Epic Events and Suzuki. Features promised include all the winning componentry from 2003 in a more refined condition, plus more evening entertainment.

The new model will exclusively use Spectro lubricants with a free Spectro chain lube offered to all riders in the evening – now that’s going to require a few cans!

Epic Events head honchos Nick Reader and Brian Reader have been searching the Karioi forest for cool new trails and begin track construction this week. Taking some of the physical work out of the track production has been the bulldozer of Sean Clark. Sean’s ‘Bully’ will grade all the old favourite trails like the wiggles, razor back ridge, drop off, MX tracks and mountain base fire breaks making them smooth and enjoyable for 04.

Evening entertainment will include the crazy 2 man half hour scooter race. With the firing of the gun, the team must swap riders no matter where on the race course which makes for general mayhem.

So there should be something in the \'04 Suzuki Desert Storm for everyone to enjoy, from hard core Enduro racer to the novice youngster attending their first organised ride.
The event is all about fun, adventure and celebrating the simplest form of off road motorcycling – trail riding.
