NATIONAL ROAD POINTS SERIES RESUMES:

STROUD WILL BE ON TIME AT TAUPO:

This weekend the Motorcycle Trader and News Group One Championship resumes after a two-month recession, during which things have been far from quiet. Round Five also sees a resumption of the car/bike concept- the double act is part of Motorsport New Zealand\'s Summer Series.

Spectators are guaranteed maximum value on the tight Taupo track with thrilling car and bike action as both series draw to a close.

The motorcyclists have seen plenty of each other during the hiatus with the Paeroa Street Race and the very successful John Britten meeting tucked in between.

BLUE WING HONDA 600 SPORTS PRODUCTION
Sean Harris (New Plymouth) is one rider who maybe a bit jaded. Harris takes a massive 90-point lead with him to Taupo. He hasn’t been in the street races and fell in practice at last weeks Britten Memorial. The bruising from the fall is not Harris’s only health problem; he has a chest infection as well. When contacted yesterday he was very confident that he would be at his best this weekend.

Sitting in his wake is the very unlucky Craig Shirriffs (Palmerston North). After a dramatic tussle with Jared Love and Brian Bernard, Shirriffs was on his way to the bank last Sunday at the Britten meeting when the demons got to his motor. Dennis Charlett (Palmerston North) occupies third in the series.

SUZUKI NZ PRODUCTION SUPERBIKE
Andrew Stroud has moved from Auckland and is now back in Hamilton. Stroud looked world class last week at Ruapuna when he collected the $15,000 winner’s cheque. He has a 65-point lead over Ray Clee (Auckland) who along with Brian Bernard (Wanganui) in third brought out the best in Stroud last week. Stroud has raced in World Superbikes before, many commentators believe that in his current form he could do that again.

Ironically, Stroud, who has a reputation for being a bit late, won a watch in last week’s Superpole. He immediately revealed his secret- it was his first watch.
