MX3 Rides Out The Storm:

Despite gale force winds, the brand new motorcycle combo called Procircuit/Sony Xplod MX3 took place in Hataitai Velodrome, Wellington.

The event involved;
NZ Supercross Championship round three
Freestyle Motocross Comp
Arena Trials

Scheduled for Saturday galeforce winds gusting up to 134 km per hour caused postponement to Sunday. With plywood sheets flying 30 metres in the air, it was not a time to be jumping motorcycles.

Sunday dawned fine and clear so MX3 was under way with bikes blasting off the Sony Xplod start line at 10am.

As predicted by Event Organiser Nick Reader, the maestro Darryll King (DK) showed the young pretenders how it was done by winning both classes on the day and building a points lead for the National series. Passing riders mid air required the accuracy and smart thinking \'DK\' is known for.

In the 250cc Scott Columb and Mason Philips rode well, but Darryll King used muscled his way past on the fairly tight track to take the positions and points that counted.

The 125 class was much the same with \'DK\' choosing the best lines to take the most points. Younger brother Damien rode well on the new 4 stroke CRF 250 to take second place.

The new kid on the block Dan Frew pulled out huge whips to win Best Whip in the Jim Beam Freestyle MX comp. South Island Jim Beam rider Frew continued the dominance by taking out Best Trick. Nick Franklin rode conservatively nursing a shoulder injury sustained in a Supercross injury.

In the acrobatic arena trials comp it was Auckland\'s Warren Laugeson who smoked them all, but it came down to the final race with Jason Baker. Laugeson fumbled over the fence jump and Baker shot ahead full speed only to tumble on the next obstacle. Laugeson completed the section with Baker on the ground to take the win.

So Pro Circuit MX3 has made a flying start in the Capital city and now looks to build to the future.
