PRESS RELEASE:

Supercross Blind Date Saturday Night:

There could be large hole develop somewhere in Wellington this week, that’s because Supercross promoter Nick Reader has placed and order for 2000 cubic meters of soil. That equates to 133 truckloads of dirt dumped in the Wellington Velodrome in Haitaitai.

The design of Reader’s track for the one nightstand could be the key to breaking the gridlock at the top of the national standings. Rounds one and two at Motueka and Tokoroa respectively have been on familiar ground and have produced a championship that couldn’t be tighter

. Jonathon Burkhart (Wairarapa) leads the 125 class by one point from Darryll King (Hamilton) with Scott Columb (Queenstown) in third. Darryll King leads the 250 class, but only by one point, from Mason Phillips (Te Puke) with Columb sitting in third.

As a former motocross world number two and with 20 NZ titles to his name, Darryll King will be the centre of attention in the capital this Saturday night. King’s most recent title was achieved at the Motocross GP last month.
