The Paeroa Street Meet was first held in 1992 and Sunday 22 February, is the thirteenth running of the Paeroa Street Race on the famous \"hacksaw\" 1.5km circuit. The largest sporting event in the Thames Valley, this race puts an estimated $800,000 directly in to the town coffers.

Motorcycle street races are scarce – only New Zealand and Ireland run them on a regular basis. Paeroa and the Wanganui Street Race, held on Boxing day, forms the Battle of the Streets Circuit.

The series consists of five core classes, Formula Paeroa, Formula Street, Robert Holden, sidecars, and classics. There are also two races for the newest and most visually exciting motorcycling class, Supermoto. These bikes are dirt bikes converted for road use.

Brian Bernard, winner of the Wanganui Street Race is will carry the \"favourite\" tag in Formula Paeroa. Craig Shirriffs, something of a course specialist will get round the shops faster than most in the Formula Street
