X*Air and ex Australian MX Champ confirmed for Pro Circuit MX3

PROCIRCUIT MX3 in association with Sony Xplod.
NZ Supercross Championship round 3.
Freestyle Motocross Jumping.
Arena Trials.
21 February 2004, Hataitai Velodrome, Mt Victoria, Wellington.

NZ’s best and world class Freestyle MX rider Nick Franklin has been confirmed by Promoter Nick Reader for the MX3 event at Wellington 21 Feb. Franklin’s most recent success was winning the Best Trick and overall at NZ’s X games called Vodafone X*Air last weekend.

Having just swapped to a KTM motorcycle, Nick took no time in getting used to the bike performing huge ‘rulers’ (handstand on the bars with bike vertical below) and ‘rock solids’ (completely letting go of the bike and looking like superman).

Franklin spends a lot of time in Europe performing in Freestyle MX comps and demos riding for Red Bull.

Other riders to feature in the Jim Beam Freestyle Motocross comp include Nick Price from Tauranga, Jaren Henricksen from Palmerston North and rising star Dan Frew from the South Island.

The FMX riders will be riding a fresh new 2 jump course including 2 huge metal up ramps that launch the riders into the air to perform their tricks. The down ramps are formed from 3 freight containers with earth overlaid. The flight distance is set at 22 metres…

For the National Supercross, top riders are also confirmed to do battle. Motocross and Supercross legend Darryll King is confirmed to race. Darryll is leading the 250cc championship and is 2nd in the 125cc championship from Jonathan Burkhart of Masterton. Jonathan has had some time off riding, but is now back into racing full noise.

There is also last year’s 125cc SX Champion and young gun Mason Phillips. Mason aims to win the series again and then race the rest of the season in Australia.

Representing Australia is former Australian MX Champ Steven Andrew riding Yamahas from Maidstone Yamaha. Wicksy (as he is known) will campaign both classes and should give the top Kiwis a good go as Aussies are know for top Supercross skills and aggressive riding and passing.

Wellington/Upper Hutt resident Barry Morris, former Scottish MX champ, is also likely to get among the top 3 on his Maidstone Yamaha.

So with top quality riders and a great track, MX3 is gonna go off.
