SUZUKI BRINGS BACK A FAVOURITE

SUZUKI is set to re-introduce one of its best-selling models to the New Zealand market.

The motorcycle in question is the chopper-styled GN250, which was a best seller from its introduction right up until 1994, when it disappeared from the New Zealand line-up. But its demise had nothing to do with demand – it was due to the model’s availability.

Suzuki New Zealand’s Motorcycle Marketing Manager, Tom Peck, says the company could have continued selling them if the GN250 had continued in production.\"It was a hugely popular model and that continues to be the case, which can be seen quite clearly in the fact used ones are holding their value very well,\" Mr. Peck says.

Now, due to demand in overseas markets, Suzuki has put the GN250E back into production which means Suzuki New Zealand will shortly be able to offer it for sale here. The cute mini-chopper features a raked out front-end with leading axle forks, pull-back handlebars, tear-drop shaped petrol tank and a very generously padded dual seat with a well positioned grab bar for the passenger.

The wheels are in cast alloy, an 18-incher up front with a 16-inch at the back to give the fat-tyred chopper look.
Powering the GN250E is the trusty air-cooled overhead camshaft four-valve single cylinder engine that won the GN250 a legion of fans first time around. The cylinder head features Suzuki’s patented twin swirl combustion chamber that improves efficiency and optimises power output.

This lusty little engine’s motive power is transmitted via a five-speed gearbox and to ensure GN250 owners stop in safety, there’s a generous disc brake up front. With a dry weight of just 125 kg, the GN250E is a doddle to ride in traffic, and it’s also more than capable of fulfilling a touring role.

Starting is a piece of cake – simply press the button on the right handlebar and it quickly comes to life with a loping idle.

To celebrate the return of the GN250E, Suzuki has come up with a super special introductory price. It will retail for $2995 – that is, while stocks last!
