Horowhenua ride at Laws Hill

Where do they all come from and why do they come here? Because (to quote Banjo P) \"the hills are twice as steep and twice as rough.\" Over 300 people turned up to make this Wellington Anniversary Day ride a rip-roaring success. There is a real thrill racing along a ridge where a moments inattention could launch you into space. The day did have it\'s share of spills but, despite having the helicopter in to pick up a couple of casualties, most were pretty minor. Surprisingly I lasted the day without an off but I did have my share of incidents, with the most memorable being a fist-sized rock hurled at my knee from a passing bike. Don\'t knee guards sound like a good idea at a time like that? The other problems were taken care of by Gary Moss with occassional assistance from John Christie - both of which I\'m very grateful to. Thank-you for a great ride Horowhenua.
