A Windy Teretonga

Friday free training proved a bit much for some. The weather was patchy sun with very strong, gusty westerlies. Johnny Hepburn was very fast on both his Superbike and Sports Production bike. Tony Rees was fast as well despite crashing at the super fast loop early in the afternoon. He was running again later on unlike Shaun Harris who was taken to hospital with severe concussion and is very unlikely to take any further part this weekend. Anderw Bretherton fron NP crashed heavily also, virtually totaling his Kawasaki ZX6R.
Southland MCC held its \"Meet The Riders\" nite last night. This was an outstanding sucess, with about 250-300 people attending. Almost everyone went home with a gift or prize.
VB Racing struggled today (as did all the small bike riders in the wind) with most other riders calling it a day early. Maarten managed some good times on Thursday but was a couple of seconds off the pace on Friday due to the wind. Saturdays forcast is prety sad for the morning but clearing about midday. There are 6 practice sessions and 2 races today, including the Southland \"Spirit of Speed\" (an all-in for 600cc and smaller capacity bikes). Saturday also sees the first race in the F3 champs. Tune in for further reports later in the weekend...
