Foggy Update.

Carl Fogarty has had a keyhole operation on his damaged left shoulder to make a final assessment of damage done in his 140mph Phillip Island crash last season.

Surgeon Andrew Carr who has been Foggy\'s doctor since he arrived back in Britain from the Aussie crash made small insertions and inserted a camera to check on the progress of the injury. The assessment shows that King Carl will only ever regain about 75% of his former strength in the damaged shoulder.

Speaking after the operation Foggy has this to say. \"This is the first time the doctors have been able to look around inside and check out how it is all healing. They were really happy - the plates and pins can stay there for the rest of my life and the bone is healing well. \"They cleaned some of the scar tissue out that was restricting the movement inside the shoulder and once the swelling goes down I should be able to get on with normal things again.\". \"I will never race again. I know that and I have dealt with the fact. I will still be really busy this year and I will be signing my Ducati contract this week to commit to two years of working with the firm.\"

As to speculation that this season he will be commenting for BBC on the WSBK circuit he said \"I\'m not sure how all this will work, but I am looking forward to being involved in racing in 2001.\"
