Next weekend, at the National Road Race Championship at Invercargill, will see the race debut of the new Honda CBR600F in the hands of Oamaru’s Brad Selfe. The machine is the only one in New Zealand and it is believed this will also be it’s world racing debut.
Selfe will be campaigning the new Honda 600cc under the Castrol Honda banner managed by Oamaru Honda, after Blue Wing Honda folded it’s road race team before Christmas.
The fuel injected 600cc weighs just 169kg and delivers 110ps at 12500rpm.
“Just running it in, it feels so much better than last years model, all round,” said Selfe this week.
Last years’ 1999/2000 season was Selfe’s most successful. He won the New Zealand 600 Sports Production Grand Prix at Ruapuna and finished a close 2nd in the 600cc Sports Production Road Race Championship, along with a 3rd in the Formula Two Road Race Championship, all on a Honda CBR600.
Selfe feels this season, with this bike, he can improve on his 1999/2000 results.
